Vertigo

(…) Anyone who’s goal is ‘something’ higher’ must expect some day to suffer vertigo. What is vertigo? Fear of falling? Then why do we feel it even when the observation tower comes equipped with a sturdy handrail? No, vertigo is something other than the fear of falling. It is the voice of emptiness below us, which tempts and lures us, it is the desire to fall, against which, terrified, we defend ourselves (…)

The inner battle between temptation and restraint, surrender and defense. The fear evoked by own emotions that are abstruse and can not be tamed. A continuous movement from lightness to weight and repeating over and over again. Afraid for the things you feel, but tempted to cross the line, getting beyond own boundaries. Willing to hide but afraid to be invisible. Getting to the point of suffocation and still holding your breath. It is about discovering where your limits are and when you found them, take a deep breath, lean forward, and let go.

Waiting for so long..

And there we were. In the hotel lobby of one of Istanbul’s shabbiest hotels, 03:00 in the morning, waiting with 35 people for the bus to arrive to bring us to the airport because (oh yes) our flight’s been rescheduled and is 2 hours EARLIER. Hello can anybody tell me since when do planes leave earlier? Anyway, I think my friend tried at least 25 different positions of sleeping in that chair and since I had nothing else to do then annoy people with my camera I made a study out of it. I found it quite fascinating how she managed to stay in the chair and still move around like a mad man. The annoyance is so visible it almost makes me feel uncomfortable looking at it, but my memory tells me the situation was actually quite funny.
