New design talents coming up!

June 26, 2010  |  Fashion, News  |  1 Comment  |

2 days ago I was ready and pumped up to help my dear friends and designer duo Merel Groebbe and Katrien Wassenberg with their oh-so stressful but true moment of their design career so far: the 3rd year fashion show of AMFI! Arriving at CBK, one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful exhibition and project centre, the atmosphere was good with a little stress factor in between the lines. After having sewed 8 buttons for the duo and admiring their 6 person strong red-head army I was ready to take a sneak peek into the collection of other students who also featured in my photoshoot for Odd magazine – Bram Bekker, Bram van Diepen and Laura Kirchner – The students had focussed on technique in their 3 outfit collection, resulting into a wide variety of unique collars, closures, silhouettes and patterns. I especially liked the collections of Mariska Harks, Bram van Diepen and designer duo Sanne Haselager & Xiomara van der Zon because of their use of fabric and playing with silhouette and technique which appealed to me. You can scroll down to view their work or skip through the pages of the booklet at the right side bar. If you wish to copy, publish or post any picture please contact me before doing so. shoe-shoe what a day

Camillia Skovgaard (Danish) made her debuut in cruise collections last week and although I’ve never seen any of her works (shame on me) I completely fell in love with it. The sharp zig-zag sole (her trademark) look tough but feminine. Classic with an edgy twist. You can wear them to a lot of occasions but still stand out in the shoe-crowd. Well appreciated within the industry she won price after price ( Queen Elizabeth Scholar Award for Excellence in British Craftsmanship 2007, Shoe designer of the year 2008, nominated for the Swarovski Emerging Talent-Accessories 2009 and Won the Accessories Designer of the Year 2010) and is well known for her designs for (a.o) Halle Berry, Sienna Miller and Kylie. Quite a girl on the scale we have here. Available at the end of this month but in the mean time you can slob away in front of your computer.
