Sarah Burton, creative director of fashionhous Alexander McQueen, was this week announced fashion designer of the year 2011 one of the British Fashion Awards. She did not only design thé weddingdress of the year 2011 (Kate Middleton’s) but showed the world on Fasionweek Paris her strong collection.  Look behind the scenes at the art and handcraft that is involved to make it work, you almost feel you are there!

Coloring this Amaryllis I wonder which colours my blog-spotters would choose. As you can see there are three colours involved. Choose your three favorite colours, background, middle- en uppercolour and I will make a print with the highest scored colours and show it on the next blog.

As the atelier of Skittish Skies in ‘under construction’ it feels like me life is upside down. Were I use to spend here almost every spare hour, now I don’t know what to do with myself. So, for this weekend I hooked-up myself to the music en lyrics of Lana del Rëy, her voice makes you feel like in a trance. So, I’m playing all her songs on You Tube right know.The paint on the shelf looks lost by all this contruction violence, I must be screenprinting at the end of next week!!!

Sometimes you just need some ‘ pink’  to lighten-up your world. Now, when days are getting shorter and darkness is getting darker we need bright sparkling collours.

Look at the ‘pink’  in the collection that Versace made for H&M, I choose some items to show you but you better look for yourself in the shops next Thursday though I heard that the Versace peaces will be there on Friday. So be alert!So bold

Meet some of the designs of the silk-screen atelier of Skittish Skies. All prints you see are handprinted and designed in our own atelier. The print on the top above is made of torned and burned fabric.

This large prints up and below are made by drawings by the hand of Anne-Britt. You see it covers the most of the top, it’s so fun to see ánd do!

Prints made by burning en torning fabrics and fibers and other techniques. It creates the most amazing affects. Thanks also to the young woman who shows it so well!

Last week I got inspired at the Design and Handcraft stockmarket ‘Meesterlijk’ in Amsterdam. As the dresses above from Michael Barnaert van Bergen shows what’s possible with knitwear, it makes me curious how screenprints will react on knitwear. Soon you will find out on this blog.

This was the firts year that ‘Meesterlijk’ was to be seen at the RAI in Amsterdam, I saw lovely handmade products from designers and art-professionals who were there to present them. The jacquard woven fabrics presented by Christie van der Haak were very impressive to see.

Watch the combination od colours in these textiles who are made by the hand of Bernadette van der Braak, B-Made is known for her big colourful textile objects with stitching.

Have you ever seen a jacket that is handmade from recycled postbags? I think it’s amazing! The designer is Shirdak who makes plaids, jackets, shoes and hats in small ateliers in Turkey, Asia and Egypt.

The final piece I must show you, because the hand-bags were so beautifully made, they come from the collection of the Tassenmuseum, the quality of the objects and the history tells a story of richness and incredible skills.
